Post-Thanksgiving Wrap Up 2013

We're a little late with this one probably due to the lack of any surprises and/or new product mobile appearance.  But at the very least, it's always nice to catch up with old friends.   Thanksgiving mainstays, Planter's Nutmobile and Ronald McDonald's Big Red Shoe made their annual appearances at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade:

While it's always nice to seem them, I would mind seeing some new faces bumpers next year.

Ice Cream Float

As we chronicle the world of Product Mobiles, blog entries are typically populated by vehicles with four (or more) wheels and an engine.  Of course, there have been exceptions.  We've seen three-wheelers, motor bikes, trailers and even hot air balloons.  If it travels and is in a weird shape, it usually qualifies.

That brings us to a first on this blog:  a Product Mobile Boat!  Take a big swig of the Shamrock Shake boat:

It floated along the green dyed Chicago River on Saint Patrick's Day 2011.  Captain Ronald McDonald can add this beauty to his various Big Red Shoe Cars.

Shaved Ice

I'm looking for more information on this one:

The Gillette Fusion Zamboni from a few years ago is awesome.  I'm not sure if it still hits the ice or not.

Nut Again

Hold on to your legumes!  Planter's just announced a new NUTmobile tour!

Hopefully the tour will come to our town and we can get some video.  Check out their new website for details!

Behold...the Avacardo!

The Avacardo made a cameo in a recent commercial for Subway:

You can see its brief (and as far as I know only) appearance here:

I don't know if this is just a prop for the commercial or an actual working vehicle.  But if Subway was smart they'd get this thing on the road ASAP...and maybe team up with the Guac Mobile!

Thanks, once again to Uncle Frank for the heads up!

Nanner Sammich

Not too long ago a team up that could only come from the Breakfast Gods happened...the Banana Car and the Toaster Car (I assume that's what it's called.  I don't know too much about that one):

To Dew List

Let's check in with Mountain Dew, shall we?  First off, they recently tweeted a picture of this cool Diet Dew BBQ Smoker:

But even cooler is their new promotional tour.  It's not quite a product mobile but the new Kickstart Truck comes close.  It's on the road right now!

You can get tour dates and follow along on their Facebook page.

Going Corporate

The Big Banana Car is continuing its world tour and is helping to finance their voyage by becoming even more of a product mobile.  First the banana finally got its sticker when they represented Del Monte at SOBEfest:

More recently they have been making stops at various Planet Smoothie locations:

And the adventure continues...

Roll on a Pole

You may recall that we've seen roller skate cars twice before.  And today makes three.  But this one isn't rolling anywhere.

Several auto shops have the old "car on a pole" outside to attract attention.  The Rollercade in Longview, TX has this beauty outside.  You may think it's just a decoration but a closer inspection indicates that it is an actual car (thereby qualifying it as a product mobile):

The Texas plates make me assume this beauty was once road worthy.  The sad part of this story is that Rollercade seems to no longer be in business:

But, of course, we hold out hope that Rollercade will once again open their doors and the Rollercade Car will hit the roads again.

Cigarette Motorbike

Here's a cigarette shaped motorcycle that was made by a man in India in order to discourage people from smoking.  I'm not sure I follow the logic:

Thank again to Uncle Frank for the tip.

Guac Around the Clock

I recently learned of the existence of the Guac Mobile thanks to Food Networks' great show Unwrapped.  (And yes, as I've said before, trailers count as product mobiles!)

Here's a clip from the show that features the Guac Mobile:

The video/pic is property if Food Network and if you want to know more about the Guac Mobile check out the Wholly Guacamole website:
