Shoe Gazing

I've mentioned before that Product Mobiles are woefully underused in television commercials.  Sure occasionally we'll get something like an animated cameo by the Planter's Nutmobile but for the most part our favorites are absent from commercial breaks.

But recently a little Youtubing led to the discovery of a cameo of Ronald McDonald's Big Red Shoe Car in an old McDonald's commercial.  You can see it in the background behind Ronald and the young child he brought to the middle of nowhere to star gaze:

As you can see, toward the end of the spot, Grimace shows up in a towel ready to party.  Why?  You can watch it yourself to investigate:

Chance Encounter

Awhile back we did an entry on Fictional Product Mobiles from TV and movies and recently we found another from the underrated Fox sitcom Raising Hope.  While searching for a new car to buy, the Chance family happened upon this beauty:

I don't have any details on the origins of this car but it is reminiscent of several we have sen before like Ronald McDonald's Big Red Shoe Car and the L.L. Bean Bootmobile.  Further research is necessary.
